Baldja and RSGx are excited to announce that we have been awarded by Whittens, the electrical services subcontract at Fortescue’s Flying Fish Village, servicing the company’s Eliwana mine in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

Fortescue’s Flying Fish Village is located 35 kilometres east of Eliwana mine within the Western Hub development and is a key part in the expansion of the hub.

The scope of works includes the supply, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of:

  • Underground conduits and containment;
  • Above and below ground power & communication cables;
  • Site main switchboards and distribution boards; and
  • Lighting & small power.

Baldja, a majority Indigenous owned incorporated joint venture between RSGx, Wilco Electrical and Kardan Construction work together to maximise local content, Indigenous employment and upskilling opportunities. This generates ongoing benefits within local Indigenous communities and provides the comfort of sophisticated capability through proven performance.

Baldja sets aside 10% of all forecasted profits arising from all projects it is awarded for its Indigenous training fund. This allows for the creation of Indigenous apprenticeships, upskilling and support for existing and future Indigenous employees.

With the award of this scope by Whittens on the Flying Fish Village, Baldja has created a new Aboriginal electrical apprenticeship position.

Baldja and RSGx’s State Manager for WA, Michael O’Connell said “We are delighted to have been awarded this scope. Our reputation affords us such incredible opportunities to further leverage our relationships and our capability in the Pilbara. We are also delighted to have the opportunity to generate a new position for an Aboriginal electrical apprentice on this project. We look forward to delivering this scope safely and to meeting our client’s expectations.
